We’ve been selected for University College London’s EdTech Labs programme, joining a cohort of AI education companies committed to evidence-based approaches in learning technology.
This autumn marked an exciting milestone for MeridianPath. We kicked off the programme alongside a diverse group of AI education ventures at IDEALondon, UCL’s innovation hub. The opening sessions reinforced what drives our work: that effective learning technology must be grounded in science, not hype.
Why UCL EdTech Labs matters for what we’re building
At MeridianPath, we deliver microlearning to pharmaceutical and microfinance field teams across Latin America through WhatsApp, Teams, and SMS. Our learners are sales representatives visiting pharmacies, loan officers travelling to rural communities, and promoters working in the field. They don’t have time for hour-long e-learning modules, and they rarely sit at a computer during their working day.
Getting the technology right is only half the challenge. The other half is ensuring that what we deliver actually works: that people retain knowledge, change behaviour, and perform better. That’s where UCL EdTech Labs comes in.
What we’re focusing on
The programme runs over four months and covers the areas that matter most to us as we scale.
- Evidence-based design. Our microlearning and adaptive pathways need to be grounded in learning science. UCL’s research network gives us access to the latest thinking on spaced repetition, retrieval practice, and mobile pedagogy.
- Impact validation. Completion rates tell part of the story. We want to measure whether workers genuinely gain skills and whether companies see measurable performance improvements as a result.
- Responsible AI in education. As we integrate AI into content adaptation and learner pathways, we’re committed to building transparent systems that respect worker autonomy whilst delivering business outcomes.
- Sustainable scaling. We’re expanding across Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and preparing to enter Brazil. Maintaining educational quality across languages, cultures, and industries requires a deliberate approach.

Our belief
Rapid change in industries like pharma and financial services shouldn’t leave field workers behind. Through this programme, we’ll refine how we measure impact, strengthen our theory of change, and ensure MeridianPath delivers genuine value to both workers seeking career growth and companies building adaptable workforces.
We’re grateful to the UCL EdTech Labs team for this opportunity and energised by the calibre of our cohort peers and facilitators.
More to come as we progress through the programme.
